New long-term opportunity for a talented Data Engineer with experience in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to join our leading customer on a 12-month contract basis.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing systems for integrating retrieval and generation techniques to enhance their natural language processing capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to support retrieval-augmented generation projects.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for information retrieval and text generation tasks.
• Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate retrieval-augmented generation models into our NLP applications.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency of data processing systems.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of RAG models.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working as a Data Engineer, preferably in a role involving natural language processing.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (eg, Apache Spark).
• Familiarity with retrieval techniques, such as keyword matching, semantic search, or neural retrievers.
• Knowledge of generation models, such as transformer architectures (eg, BERT, GPT).
• Fluent in Norwegian, both spoken and written.

This is a full-time, freelance position with long-term prosperity likely as the project is lasting numerous years. This is a hybrid role with 2 days to be spent onsite in Oslo per week.
